Home Made Hummus Plate – Plant-based + Gluten-Free + Oil-free

I seriously love making hummus. It’s so easy as long as you have a blender and it takes barely any time. I like to have it on hand often for when I get snacky. Plus it’s awesome to bring over for dinner parties! The perfect appy!
This hummus is super easy to make and so tasty. I also love making my own because it’s a lot cheaper than storebought and not full of canola oil. I swear it’s almost impossible to find hummus that is not loaded with canola oil. You can read about why I don’t like to use oil here.
The only ingredients are:
-chickpeas, lemon, garlic, tahini, salt, and some garlic powder (optional)
Check out the video below to see how to make it 🙂 (or scroll below for the steps)
To make follow these steps:
1) Add 1 can of chickpeas, juice of half a lemon, 2 heaping tablespoons of tahini, a clove or 2 of garlic (depending on how garlicky you like your food) to your blender
2) Blend. If you’re having trouble blending, you can add more tahini, lemon juice or even water to make it blend. I would suggest adding it in small increments until you get it to blend – you don’t want to accidentally make it too watery. I personally don’t love when my hummus is too tahini like so I always add more lemon juice or water to make it blend.
3) Taste your hummus- if you like it more garlicky add another clove or some garlic powder. If you want it saltier add some salt.
You can always spice up your hummus by adding in hot sauce or cayenne pepper. Or give it a little extra flavor with some cumin or roasted garlic cloves.
